Field Trip Friday: August 5, 2016

Happy Friday! Please enjoy these links from the past couple weeks, as I was lax in my duties last week.

- Oprah Winfrey will be joining the cast of A Wrinkle In Time. In case that movie wasn't going to be great enough already.

- The New York Times profiled Adaptive Books and its unique publishing model.

- Apparently it is a tradition for many ALA book award committee members to get commemorative tattoos, which I personally think is pretty awesome.

- Instagram has added a new 'stories' feature, which is...the exact same as the 'stories' feature already present in Snapchat.

- On Diversity in YA, Rahul Kanakia discusses fiction and social responsibility.

- Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is breaking sales records. According to The Guardian, it overtook the single-week sales record previously held by E.L. James.

- #dvpit now has a website. The twitter pitch event took place for the first time this past April, and because of its success, will be repeated in the fall.
