Here's a description of the book, via Goodreads:
Lea was in a cemetery when the earth started bleeding. Within twenty-four hours, the blood made international news. All over the world, blood appeared out of the ground, even through concrete, even in water. Then the earth started growing hair and bones.
Lea wants to ignore the blood. She wants to spend time with her new girlfriend, Aracely, in public, if only Aracely wasn't so afraid of her father. Lea wants to be a regular teen again, but the blood has made her a prisoner in her own home. Fear for her social life turns into fear for her sanity, and Lea must save herself and Aracely whatever way she can.

To honor Kaitlin, we decided to compile a list of what we'd do if the earth ever started bleeding...
Kristin Otts: “I would build a tiny house. I don't know why - it just seems that tiny houses are a solution to a lot of problems these days. Also I'd be cute and trendy in spite of the apocalyptic circumstances.”
Sarah Enni: “I'd grab a gallon of water, my leather jacket, and a boat! For hydration, cool factor, and survival -- what I find to be important, in that order. ;)”
Kristin Halbrook: “What would I do if the earth started bleeding? I would move to Canada. (Isn't move to Canada always the answer? ;) )”
Kate Hart: “Blood spatter would be the new camouflage, so I'd snag this gory-looking kayak and float away.”
Stephanie Kuehn: “I would put a Band-Aid on the earth! And maybe some antibacterial ointment. Then I would kiss it and help it get better.”
Sumayyah Daud: “Run. with coffee thermos in hand.”
Debra Driza: “I would encase my entire family in a giant bubble and make sure they could safely float above the earth's surface, while I set about to procure a pair of giant knitting needles so I could help Steph stitch it up.”
Kirsten Hubbard: “I would release my inner vampire and live forever and ever, and ever.”
Happy release day, Kaitlin!
