Cover Reveal: ROMANCING THE DARK IN THE CITY OF LIGHT by Ann Jacobus

Today we are so excited to get to share the cover reveal of Ann Jacobus's upcoming contemporary debut, ROMANCING THE DARK IN THE CITY OF LIGHT (Thomas Dunne, Oct. 6, 2015). This book sounds emotional and mysterious, and we can't wait to get our hands on it. But first...the cover.

Isn't it gorgeous?

Eighteen year-old Summer Barnes is ready to end it all. Even though she ‘s now in Paris, the most romantic city in the world, she’s been kicked out of yet another boarding school for drinking, smoking, snorting and flunking.

Then Summer meets an awesome Arab guy, nicknamed Moony, at the Paris American International School where they’re both seniors; and mysterious, sophisticated Kurt while she’s out scoping a celebrity cemetery. He’s so hot, he may be out of her league.

Moony barely survived a horrific car crash as a kid. He’s totally upbeat about life and he wants Summer to embrace her own, maybe starting with a little less solo champagne drinking? Summer needs Moony’s friendship desperately. In fact, she’s falling for him hard, but no way will he put up with her bad choices much longer.

Kurt, on the other hand, is all about self-destructive fun. It gets harder and harder for Summer to resist him. He wants her to understand that life, and death, are in her own hands.

ANN'S THOUGHTS

Seeing the cover for your book is like going to a completely new and unknown hairstylist and saying, “Oh, just cut it however you want. How about something different and creative!” And then not looking in the mirror until it’s all done and irreversible. Of course, it could be great, but there are so many ways it could fail.

Letting go of control is hard when you’ve lived day in and day out with a manuscript for so many years. It’s doubly hard for a control freak.

But it’s dynamite! Paris, gloom, romance, a little scary, with the title featured in such a cool way. Best of all, the fuchsia color coordinates with the scarf in my bio pic.

  3. Can't wait to read the book! I said this before, but I'll say it again: great title! I like that they gave the title so much space on the cover. It comes out and grabs you. How wonderful that Richard Peck's good words are on the cover, too!
