Lauren's Thoughts:
Seeing my cover was the scariest, best thing ever. It makes it all feel real, you know? It’s a book! My book! With my name and my characters! So weird.
But you guys - I love my cover so much!! The team at HarperTeen did such an amazing job, and I love the direction they decided on. Yes, my book is totally a romance about Matt and Ella, but it’s also about their friends, too (the night in question involves all four of them). It’s about how a best friend is just as important as a boyfriend/girlfriend. So when my publisher decided to go with that theme and feature all four of the characters on the cover, I was thrilled. And I have to say – the characters look pretty cool. There’s Jake, backlit by the sun. Meg with the skinny jeans. Matt on the side, daring to be a part of it all, and Ella in the middle, bringing everyone together. I think it captures the idea of the book so well - crazy night, four friends, lots of fun and lots of questions.

The Book
Before Matt, Ella had a plan. Get over a no-good ex-boyfriend. Graduate from high school without any more distractions. Move away from Orlando, Florida, where she’s lived her entire life.Be sure to add it your TBR pile on Goodreads!
But Matt—the cute, shy, bespectacled bass player who just moved to town—was never part of that plan.
And neither was attending a party that was crashed by the cops just minutes after they arrived. Or spending an entire night saying “yes” to every crazy, fun thing they could think of.
Then Matt abruptly left town, and he broke not only Ella’s heart but those of their best friends, too. So when he shows up a year later with a plan of his own—to relive the night that brought them together—Ella isn’t sure whether Matt’s worth a second chance. Or if re-creating the past can help them create a different future.
In alternating then and now chapters, debut author Lauren Gibaldi crafts a charming, romantic story of first loves, lifelong friendships, uncovered secrets, and, ultimately, finding out how to be brave.

ReplyDeleteOops, just went up to the thing and realized it asks for a question. I'd love some snappea crisps. If you haven't ever had them, you should try it.

ReplyDeleteA snickers bar! I love the cover and the synopsis for this book sounds fun! Can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteSounds adorable, but with the potential to have more depth than expected. I'm imagining a cross between Nick & Norah..., Graffiti Moon, and Just One Day!
ReplyDeleteAs to snack choice... I just got back from shopping for tonight's Library Board meeting snacks and the chewy chocolate chip cookies w/ Reese's cups are calling my name. I would say yes to those if I didn't need to leave them packaged till the meeting, but I am going for the (healthier) trail-mix granola bar instead.
Ooh this one sounds interesting and I love the cover!
ReplyDeleteOh and I would say yes to some ice cream right now!
