Cover Reveal and Giveaway: HOLD ME LIKE A BREATH by Tiffany Schmidt!

Today we are so pleased to host the cover reveal of Tiffany Schmidt's upcoming romantic thriller HOLD ME LIKE A BREATH. It's the first book in the new Once Upon a Crime Family series, coming May 2015 from Bloomsbury. Take a look! We hope you love it as much as we do! Tiffany is also giving away an ARC and swag, so please be sure to enter below.

The Cover!

Penelope Landlow has grown up knowing almost anything can be bought or sold—including body parts.  She’s the daughter of one of the three crime families that control the black market for organ transplants. Because of an autoimmune disorder that causes her to bruise easily, Penny is considered too “delicate” to handle the Family Business or even step foot outside the estate. Her parents will do anything to keep Penelope safe--whether or not she's happy.

But in her Family's line of work no one can be safe forever.

When a brutal act of violence is committed before her eyes, Penelope is thrust into the dangerous world all alone, and if she doesn't keep one step ahead of her Family's enemies, she'll find out some things are worse than a gilded cage. She doesn't know who, if anyone, she can trust.

All Penelope has ever wanted is freedom and independence, but as she struggles to survive rival Families' power plays, she learns wishes come with casualties, betrayal hurts worse than bruises, love is a risk worth taking... and maybe she’s not as fragile as everyone thought.

Tiffany’s reaction:

When I say ‘I don’t handle blood very well,’ I mean it in the same way Ron Weasley would say, “I’m not a fan of spiders” or Etienne St. Clair might say, “Heights? Not really my thing.”

By which I mean, I HATE IT. Woozy, get the smelling salts. I think I might puke. Or pass out. Or puke, then pass out. When I was a sixth grade teacher, the first thing I taught my students was “If you need a Band-Aid—even just for a paper cut—keep your bleeding part hidden when you ask for one.”

So it may surprise you to hear that my favorite parts of HOLD ME LIKE A BREATH’s cover are the bloody ones. And that there’s a fair amount spilled on the pages inside as well.  The tagline for HOLD ME is “Some Family secrets are written in blood”—and our alternate tagline was “And they all lived happily ever after…”

It’s a book with a body count… and a body parts count since it centers around crime families that traffic in human organs. But the narrator, Penelope Landlow, has led a suffocatingly sheltered life and isn’t nearly as hardened as those around her.

On top of being brilliantly bloody, the Bloomsbury design team did such a great job creating a cover that represents Penny’s story—a very fragile girl trapped in a very dangerous lifestyle.

Contest:

To celebrate the cover reveal, I’m giving away THE VERY FIRST ARC… As soon as they’re printed and in my grabby little hands, I’ll sign it & pop it in the mail to the winner! Good luck! (US and Canada only, please.)
