Short and Sweet Nano Check-In

Hey guys!

So I know a lot of you are Nanoing right now (and so am I) so I thought I'd do a quick check in to see how everyone was doing so far?

  • Are you on goal?
  • Is it harder than you thought?
  • Have you thought about throwing in the towel already?

Me?

  • I am not on goal. (Woefully behind because I got all wrapped up in a fabulous book that I am calling research, LOL)
  • I've done Nano before. I've never actually finished it in November. My deadlines usually mean I am Nanoing anyway, so I'm used to the rush. Maybe that's why I can't finish NANOWRIMO. Hmmm.
  • I have thought about giving it up. I started Nano right after I turned in a book that was due, so I jumped right back into the fire. I question my own judgment sometimes. Especially when I am staring at the screen and there are no words in my head. But I'm not giving up! I hold my pen up high and shout SPARTA, no wait, make that NANO!

If you are behind, don't sweat it. This writing gig is a marathon, not a sprint. Pick up where you left off and keep going!! Even if you end Nano with 25 or 30 or 75,000 words, that's more than 0!

Check in, let us know how you're doing, if you're struggling, or even if you are kicking butt!

  1. I started late this month, only just today, so I s'pose I'm way behind, but I've only been writing solidly for like 45 minutes, so I'm going, if late. I've done it before, but always given in about two weeks in, so I guess third time's the charm.

  2. Soooo not on goal right now. This is my third year going for it and in the lead up I thought, "this is finally the year I hit my goal!" I'm planning on doing the marathon session on Saturday and hoping I can add 10K then, which should get me closer to where I need to be. Knowing that other people are lagging behind helps, actually!

    2. I feel ya. It's my third year, too, and I'm determined to at least keep going through the month. Good luck during the Marathon. I'll be there too!

  3. I'm a day behind but I'm not giving up! I've got most of the weekend free so I'm going to hopefully attend a Writeathon and write till my fingers bleed!

  5. I have yet to start writing. :'(

I was so excited about starting right at midnight and then....school happened. I've been staying up late working on homework and then dealing with work that my story slipped behind but no more!

I shall sit my butt down today and the rest of the week and squeeze in my NaNoWriMo time. For Nano!

  6. I've never met the goal, although I participate every year, confident that one year I will get my priorities, emergencies, commitments, and life in order and finish THE book. Because I've participated for the last 3 years, I now have 3 unfinished novels...

  7. I'm happy with my progress. My regional group meet online and challenge each other to 'word wars,' writing as much as you can in a given time. This really helps get the word count up.

  9. I've been trying to get ahead on my word count due to weekend plans. So far, so good. Regardless, I'm with Lee. Anything is better than ZERO. So go write everyone. You can do it!

  10. I've slowly and slowly fallen behind and right now I'm about 4,000 words behind. I haven't given up, last year the same thing happened.

    SPARTA!
