Road Trip Wednesday #180: What's the 'Book That Got Away'?

Welcome to our 180th Road Trip Wednesday!

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link - or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.

This Week's Topic: What book is your 'one that got away?' (What book have you always been dying to read but still haven't yet?)

Road Trip Song of the Week: "Pressed in a Book" by The Shins

Next Week: Conference season is here! We are getting all excited for BEA and ALA (check out the get-together we have planned with Stacked for ALA!), and we want to know: What authors would be on your dream author panel?

    1. LOL. Your dad sounds like a cool dude :)

  2. I've got a few books sitting on my 'to-read' pile: 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak, 'Insignia' by S.J. Kincaid, and 'Insurgent' by Veronica Roth. I've not had much time to read lately as I've been concentrating on writing my own novel and keeping in touch with my blogger friends, so the 'to-read' pile is only going to grow. Maybe when the weather gets warmer I'll take a day off and some books to the beach :-)

p.s. I didn't even know that was a reference to a Katy Perry song, which is good b/c then I'd have it stuck in my head. Me and popular music do not mix!

    1. I know what you mean about the pile getting bigger as you dive deeper into your own WiP, Chris. I am in the same boat! I have not read it, but I've heard on good authority that The Book Thief is an excellent read.

    2. I hated The Book Thief and couldn't even finish it, so you're not missing much. One of the most severely overrated books of modern times, in my opinion. I wanted to throttle the smug spoilerific narrator.

  5. My TBR shelf alone could cover this topic for the next few months, BUT, I did pick one I've been wanting to read for years.

  6. This post made me want to really go out and just buy mine already...

  8. Maybe posting this will be the kick I need to finally just read them already?

  9. I jumped the gun a little early this morning. Here's my response

  11. It was interesting to think about this - great question this week!
