What to Eat?

So finals time is upon me! I don't know why I'm surprised, it rolls around every few months like clockwork and I continue to be amazed by its appearance. Still! One of my the many things that continue to elude me during this difficult time is food! I would like to not have to stop half way through my smelly bull dozing through papers, etc, but also not die of malnutrition. Things I have learned over five years of doing the thing that might also be helpful during the final stretches (or middle)(or beginning) of book writing.

  1. Fruits and vegetables are your friends! I used to hate fruits and vegetables (when I was nine I told my father that I did not believe in  vegetables but he still made me eat my brocoli) but apparently they are good for you! And the best part is there's really no preparation on your part. Clementines are my fave (they're super easy to peel) but also apples smeared with peanut butter.
  2. Eat big breakfasts! Even if your wake up time is two in the afternoon, having something big and hearty makes it easier to snack during the day and makes it less likely you will feel woozy and ill when you're on page 9 of 10.
  3. Don't forget water! And/or Gatorade. I am a huge supporter of coffee and continuous chugging of coffee (if I could mainline it into a vein I would do it!). But it dehydrates you super fast, and nothing will kill your speed and/or creativity than that sick feeling that you can't quite put your thumb on. When you go out for your morning coffee make sure to buy a water bottle or a bottle of something with electrolytes (yes, this does exclude soda. Soda is the exact opposite of what is good for you right now).
  4. Don't be afraid to take breaks! I know the feeling, both in school and in writing, that you can't stop or you're going to lose steam. Sometimes that's okay! Your brain needs a break and you need to unwind, and the higher your stress level goes, the more quality of work goes down. It's okay to say, 'I'm going to take twenty minutes and only reblog stuff from tumblr and be okay with that.'
So those are my tips! They're not overly innovative, but I find that just reminding myself of these things (or being reminded) is really helpful to me! Good luck to all my fellow term paper writers, and everyone is some sort of final writing stretch!

Thanks for the reminders, I feel like these are much needed right now!
