Snow Day!

My backyard this morning. Wait till later today though!
This very short and sweet post today is brought to you by the letter S.

We are all hunkered down here in Maine, ready for the 8-12-14 inches of snow expected today, and it got me thinking about what books I had lying around that I haven't had a chance to read yet.

See, I am one of those strange people who don't normally have a 'to be read' pile. I buy a book, I read that book immediately. I am a fast reader too, so it usually takes me around 2-3 hours to get through a normal sized book. Which is good and bad. Good because I can read a LOT, bad because I never have a book waiting to be read!

So, as I looked outside and realized there is a good chance I'll be coming home from work early today, I searched my bookshelves for a snuggle-down-in-a-comfy-chair book to have ready. It was then that I discovered, hidden under some bills, a book I had not read!

I ran in and woke up the husband just so I could share this glorious discovery! (He was not nearly as excited about it as I was though)

So now I am ready for an afternoon of other worlds and hopefully, awesome characters, and I wondered, if you all were snowed in for the day with any book you could have, what would you choose?

  1. We got about 8 inches here outside Boston... Spring in New England, what a wonderful thing. LOL. Yay for finding an unread book!

  2. I live in Barre, which is just about as rural as central Massachusetts gets. Yesterday I was convinced there would be a snow day today, so I stayed up much too late with two webinars (one on attending writers' conferences and the other on author web design) and then got up early to a book I just can't seem to put down: my own. After a brief power nap [check] and a small stop here at good ol' YA Highway [almost check], I will continue to work on my third-ish draft.

If it were any other snow day and I were any other person, I'd probably want to have Hardy's TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES with me. I've been dying to re-read it for some time now.

    Happy reading!

  4. I'm in snowy NH. :) I agree with Katie -- love dreamy romances on a snowy day. My favorites are Shana Abe's Drakan books. The good news is I actually just got an ARC of her new YA, THE SWEETEST DARK, in the mail yesterday! Bad news -- got work to do today. Boo.

  5. Ahh I love snow days! I had no school but still had to go to work. I have the perfect book to pass the rest of my snow day with here in MA. Now if only tomorrow could be a snowy as well so I could finish it...heheh.
