This Week's Topic is: In honor of this month's Bookmobile book, Marissa Meyer's CINDER, name a fable or story you'd like to see a retelling of. If you're feeling creative, come up with a premise of your own!
Road Trip Song of the Week: "A Dustland Fairytale" by The Killers

"If you're feeling creative..."! Ha! That's like dangling a piece of chocolate in front of me. I can't resist a writing challenge... so here it is: www.colindsmith.com/blog.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a retelling of the ancient Indian classic The Ramayana, perhaps from Sita's POV.
ReplyDeleteI'm back on the road trip this week, yay!

ReplyDeleteI love fairy tales! Here's how I would remake a couple of them.
ReplyDeleteThis one was kind of tricky because there are SO many already. Two that I'm hoping to maybe write someday
ReplyDeleteThis totally fits with what I'm working on right now.
ReplyDeleteSo many shiny ideas... :D Here's mine: Spin A (New-ish) Tale
ReplyDeleteI'm going to start reading CINDER this week! Other than that, I focused more on fairy tale retellings on TV, which I'm a little mixed on:

Oooh, something I've been thinking about lately... http://www.christiespeich.com/blog/2012/09/road-trip-wednesday-retelling-fables-and-stories/
ReplyDeleteNot exactly a particular fairy-tale, more a general philosophy of adapting fairy-tales for a modern audience.
ReplyDeleteI'm back. I love this topic. I promise to comment on everybody's posts this evening. I have school and stuff.
ReplyDeleteFairy Tale Retellings
Here's my favourite fairy tale! http://mermaiden.ie/?p=2292

I cannot disassociate fairy tales from Disney and I absolutely hate Disney. But, I took a stab at it...at least my re-telling of Cinder-fella is a little different.

ReplyDeleteI liked this one a lot! My take on it: Retell Me a Story
ReplyDeleteIt's been a very long time since I've participated. But I'm back! Just click on my name to see my post.
ReplyDeleteI've been off-grid while I finish school, but I'm done and back on the grid. Here's my post: http://beefcakeandbabes.com/
ReplyDeleteIs it still Wednesday? Boy, has this been a long day. Here's mine.
ReplyDeleteThe White Cat and one of these day's I'm going to do it. Susan
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to retell a fairy tale, but I have the hardest time straying from the story. There's that seemingly impossible task of making it something completely new, while keeping the core of the story in place.
ReplyDeleteI once tried to do a retelling of Hansel and Gretel in a high school creative writing class. It was pretty bad. Not very clever at all. And although it's not a fairy tale, I would love to retell Swan Lake. I have the twist, it's just a matter of making the story fit my style.
