Welcome to our 138th Road Trip Wednesday!
We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link - or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.
This Week's Topic:
What movie have you seen that actually (gasp!) improved on the book?
Road Trip Song of the Week: "If This Was a Movie" - Taylor Swift
Next week's topic: When you need creative inspiration, where do you go?

Love this question! Here's mine:
ReplyDeleteMy Huckleberry Friend
Another interesting question. And I have what might be a surprising answer--at least for a guy. :)
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY agree with this answer. Movie = awesome, book = not so awesome. And love that you're a guy who likes this movie! :)
DeleteThanks, Andrea... or should I call you Ahndray-ah? ;) What can I say? A good movie's a good movie. Maybe the fact that I'm married with six kids, five of which are girls, makes me more open to "chick-flicks." I don't know. I like what I like. :D
DeleteLoved this question. Check out my answers
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun one! Here's mine: You Should See the Movie
ReplyDeleteThe Shawshank Redemption (okay, it improved the novella), The Notebook (the movie was so much more emotional), and Lord of the Rings (Tolkien's looong descriptions of the scenery kinda killed the book for me). Great question!:)
ReplyDeleteOooooh The Shawshank Redemption---what a good one!
DeleteI posted mine here: http://rachelwritesthings.blogspot.com/2012/07/road-trip-wednesday-what-movie-actually.html
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys liked the question! If anyone ever has any RTW topic suggestions you can email YAH, by the way :)

ReplyDeleteThis is a good question, and it's only happened to me once:

And here's my answer (I cheated just a little)
ReplyDeleteAtonement
ReplyDeleteHm, I think the book was better actually :P but the film was great!
DeleteOh, that movie (and book) makes me so angry. Damn Briony! I think James McAvoy might give the movie an edge . . .
DeleteBy far, best unrequited love story on film. I love James McAvoy in this -- and in "Becoming Jane." He is so hot in a not hot way.
DeleteAh Kelly, you describe James McAvoy exactly right!!! "so hot in a not hot way". Haha! Liked the book better but love James McAvoy.
DeleteOh, he is hot in every way possible. Ahem. >.>
DeleteSeen "Penelope"? SO HOT in that movie.
DeleteI've not seen the movie, but in reading through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I often thought, "I bet they cut this out of the movie." It seemed like it would benefit a lot from the editing and scene cutting that takes place when a book turns into a movie, not to mention the fact that the movie would remove the unnecessary digressions about Apple products. For anyone who's seen the movie and read the book, did the movie tighten up the plotting?

ReplyDeleteHere's my jab at a popular writer that just left me flat, while the movie was powerful. Movie that improved on the book.
