Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on our own blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.
We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link in the comments - or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.
This Week's Topic:
I have it on good authority that Kody hates the word "panties," and Steph can't stand "supper."
What words do you absolutely hate? Which ones do you adore?

Road Trip Song of the Week:
"Wasted Words" - The Allman Brothers

This is a fun one! I came up with more words I love than hate.

ReplyDeleteAnother fun post! Here's mine!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! http://crowriverwriter.blogspot.com/2012/02/its-wednesday-time-for-another-road.html
ReplyDeleteI can't stand the verb "pad" when used to indicate a person is walking quietly. It doesn't bother me with animals but I freak out a bit when people pad. (Freaking out a little just writing that.)
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday! (I hate it when people say hump-day. And like Lenore, it bothered me to type that.)
ReplyDeleteHere's my response!
Nice question :) Here is mine and Pam's response:

Where I discuss the vileness of "commodes" and the "myriad" high-horse. As well as the "splendour" of "violets" and "Oceania."

Also, I have MISSED RTW!!! So glad to be doing these again. :)
That was tough- it's hard to think up words on the spot like that.

A weirdly timed topic for sure (I was already going to do a post on this)!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine: Word to Your Mother
This was an interesting topic to think about! Mine: http://writerschasm.blogspot.com/2012/02/rtw-hated-and-loved-words.html

ReplyDeleteWhy is it so much easier to come up with a word I hate than a word I love? That probably says a lot about me. Here's mine.
ReplyDeleteHere are some words I hate to see in queries:

Love RTW! Thanks!
Fun one today, although I'm sure I'll think of better words to list when I wake up at 2 in the morning. :)

This is a topic that will never go old. :)
ReplyDeleteRTW: Words, words, words
I know I'm supposed to write a blog post. But I need to get on my soapbox.
ReplyDeleteThere are some phrases that people say all the time that irk me to no end. "Do you want this, or no?" (I always want to scream "NOT. I do NOT want it.) and also: "Let me explain you." (I'm a water-based, highly-functioning organism, thankyouverymuch! Now, do you have something to explain to me?)
And I have a teacher that says (drives me UP THE WALL): Understond? (No, I don't understond. I underSTAND.)
Sorry. Rant over.
oooo I love words. Grammar? Not so much. Kennings and gross stuff
ReplyDeleteI hope this is coherent.
ReplyDeleteI'm new! Here's mine:

HATE SUPPER. It's dinner. It has always been dinner.
ReplyDeleteI hate the word 'weeping'. It's because I work at a hospital and sometimes people's wounds weep. How horrid is that?
LOVE the word whilst. So awesome.
Great question! Here's my answer!
