Welcome to our 112th Road Trip Wednesday!
Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.
We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link - or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.
This Week's Topic
If you couldn't use your own name, what would your pseudonym or penname be?
Road Trip Song of the Week:
"That's Not My Name" by the Ting Tings
"That's Not My Name" by the Ting Tings
This one made me laugh...
ReplyDeleteI'm already using a pseudonym: Ann Elise Monte. My real name is harder to spell, harder to remember and easier to make up insults with.
ReplyDeleteUm... i think i know the answer to this one http://beck-nicholas.blogspot.com/2012/01/rose-by-any-other-name.html
ReplyDeleteIt'll be interesting to see some of the replys this gets, as I've seen a few stories in the past about people who've changed it to reflect or ignore Maiden name changes, or because they simply 'didn't like' their own name. To mix metaphors, it seems like a bit of a pot-luck minefield.
ReplyDeleteA particularly sad case I saw once was when a small publisher told a 14-year-old girl to use a psuedonym because her birth name, something with 'Cod' in it, would make people think of fish... way to give the girl issues. >:(
My own response is over here.
Good one! Here is my post where I reveal my first name :-)
ReplyDeleteThat was different lol
ReplyDeletemy post here
=P
Good one! This took me a while to come up with...
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Day Trippers! It's been a while and it's good to be back.

ReplyDeleteSo wow, I had a lot more thoughts on the topic of Pseudonyms than I thought I did.
ReplyDeleteHere they are, plus a rant on IPA :)
I'm seeing a name theme the last few days . . . but naming characters (and your persona) is half the fun!

I'll check out everyone's later today; I unfortunately haven't had time any longer to go through all 30+ posts. But a comment on mine always gets you a comment in return, and if an RTW post shows up in my feed because I already follow your blog (unless you have light writing on a dark background in your blog design--can't read those).
what a fun topic!! Mine is here

ReplyDeleteI love this topic! Everyone's responses are wonderful. I love this because dealing with the topic of pseudonyms really brought out my pride in my own name.
ReplyDeleteHere's my own experience, and the origin of my name.
This one was really tough for me

I have a pen name in mind, but I don't know if I should use it...
ReplyDeleteI liked this post a lot! I've often wondered if I should use my legal name, or if I should use a penname. So, I'm letting you all decide which one sounds better!

SO HARD! I really like my name. So as a fun cop-out I made a poll that includes some of the most interesting names from my family history.
ReplyDeleteChoose my Pseudonym
Here is my first one!

Is Chenoa Fawn a pseudonym?
ReplyDeleteEven the phrase 'nom de plume' stirs the imagination! I look forward to visiting the previous posts ...
My real name is Arabic and NO ONE pronounces it right! Even my mom can only pronounce my first name (she's not Arabic, my dad's side is from Lebanon but my mom's, well, white). My pseudonym, hands down, would be Venus something, maybe just Venus. I don't know why, but I've loved that name since I was little.
