| Whenever I see the word pantser, I think of pants that look like this. |
Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where we post a weekly writing- or reading-related question. We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link in the comments - or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Do you like to make a detailed plan before you start a project? Or do you prefer to fly by the seat of your pants and make it up as you go along?
“Jean Genie" by David Bowie

Pantsing creates unexpected awesomeness...when it doesn't lead to writer's block.

Oh, boy. Plotter here, talking about how horribly wrong my one attempt at pantsing the book of my heart turned out. I'm still cringing from the pain of it...

"Til further notice, I'm in between...."
Ha. This question came up during The Dark Days of the Supernatural book signing the other day. I'm a combination of both. I'm an intuitive writer, but I like to have some idea of where I'm going next. I don't work from an outline, however. Instead, I start writing and see where that takes me.

Panster so far! Only one book that started with a single thought and I panstered all the way to 80k words. I was absolutely thrilled with the amount of foreshadowing and things tied together that I didn't even realize when I wrote initially. Next book, I'm starting with a tiny bit of plot (book 2 of trilogy) or else I might not end where I want for book 3, but I'm gonna let my fingers do the writing and see where I end up again. Uh, I'm going to start querying next week, so I'll probably find out if this was a mistake or what!
