Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.
We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link - or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.
This Week's Topic:
Way back in November 2009, we asked what songs represent or influence your WIP.
SEVENTY road trips later (seriously! seventy!), we're coming back to the topic to ask:
If your WIP or favorite book were music, what song(s) would it be?

Awesome question! Though I have three short series in WIP mode, "Monster" by Skillet sums them up in one song.
ReplyDeleteMy WIP novel would be "I'm so Sick" by Flyleeaf.
Fantastic subject!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday everyone :D
Wonderful! And perfect timing, me with a new WIP inspired directly by a song that wouldn't leave me alone:

Back to grading…
My current not quite WIP song is "Awake and Alive" by Skillet.
ReplyDeleteOne of my other books was completely inspired by Avril Lavigne's "I'm With You"
I love this one! I'd actually heard the song I chose awhile back on the radio. IIt's one I love, and it hit me in that moment how strongly the lyrics evoked the relationships and journey of my WIP

I'm doing an A-Z blog fest this month and already posted my W blog, but this would have been so EASY and FUN to post about. So, I'll just answer here. :)
ReplyDeleteMy first WIP: Don't You Forget About Me (Simple Minds) aka theme song to The Breakfast Club
Second WIP is a warped version of Taylor Swift's You Belong To Me.
Current WIP: Pitbull - I Know You Want Me
I put those songs on to "get me in the mood."
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's theme songs!
PS - my blog today was on Why I Write. Here's the link. I'm sure you all can relate.

Perfect question. I already have a segment on le blog that suggests playlist-worthy songs for writers.
ReplyDeleteMine's "Issues" by Sick Puppies. WIP is psycho. Main character is psycho. This song is psycho. Works out!

ReplyDeleteI tried to post this last night through the Name/URL option, but it keeps forcing me to log in to a Google Account. Don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but it's kind of deterring me from commenting because I want to use the Name/URL feature and it's no longer letting me do that. Anyhow, here's mine: http://celisedowns.com/blog/2011/04/27/rtw-62-manuscript-music/
