Road Trip Wednesday #51: Best Book of the Month -- October

Welcome to our 51st Road Trip Wednesday!

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on our own blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link in the comments - or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.

This Week's Topic:
What's the best book you read in October?

Kody: “Quiet, a little spooky, and utterly heartbreaking."

Kristin M.: “I marveled at the emotion, the phrasings, the magic..."

Kate: "I didn't read a single book this month."

Lee: "This month is a two way tie..."

Kaitlin: "I caught things I hadn't ever noticed before."

Kristin O.:  "So if you follow me on Twitter, you know that there's one book I've been talking about nonstop...

Road Trip Song of the Week:
This is Halloween" from Nightmare Before Christmas

Amanda Hannah

Amanda grew up on a big farm in a small town with one stoplight, one school, and a handful of imaginary friends. She would’ve gone to college forever, but eight years and five majors tested her advisor’s patience. So she moved to Germany to explore creepy castles before landing in Spain where she’s perfecting her Flamenco.

  1. I played!

  2. I read Skulduggery Pleasant this month and really enjoyed it - I didn't know what to expect so I went into it blindly.

I recommend the book to anyone interested in light YA urban fantasy.

  3. I managed to read only one book this month. One!

  4. I always love reading everyone's posts on this topic. :)

  5. My fave book was The Ghost and The Goth... but I read TONS more. Check it out.

  6. Here is mine

  7. I didn't finish the book yet, but the month isn't over yet.

  8. Here's mine...

  9. My favorite book of October? Mindi Scott's FREEFALL...

  10. Definitely FEED

(Yes, a repeat pick from a previous RTW--but it's that good.)

  11. I am almost scared to read everyone's posts because my TBR pile is frighteningly high! (But obvs I will anyway!)

    Here's my pick:

  12. I cheated and picked three.

  13. I just finished BEFORE I FALL by Lauren Oliver and it just bowled me over. Best book of this October, if I must say so myself. I didn't put up an RTW post on my blog because I already reviewed it, but I thought I'd put my two cents in ;)

  14. My first Road Trip Wednesday contribution: The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell. I loved it so much that I immediately started rereading it. Luscious, amazing book.

  15. It was an all-editor-hat-all-the-time month for me, so my contribution is a list of yet to be released books that rocked my world!

  16. God, I loved my October book SO HARD it HURTS (like, really, it does):

  17. Here's mine, a killer:

  18. Here's mine, with bonus photo and bad Monty Python joke.

  19. To contest this month. :D

  20. An appropriate Halloween book:
