Welcome to our 43rd Road Trip Wednesday!
Road Trip Wednesday is a "Blog Carnival," where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question and answer it on our own blogs. You can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.
We'd love for you to participate! Just answer the prompt on your own blog and leave a link in the comments - or, if you prefer, you can include your answer in the comments.
This Week's Topic:
What's the best book you read this month?
(A tough one. I mean, it's not like anything good came out in August. Real, or not real?)
Michelle: There is an Unusual Aunts Agency, whiny mermaids, boobries (not a typo), a handsome selkie, and the clincher – a kracken. Who hums.
Lee: Okay, I'll tell you right off the bat, I'm going to be cheating.
Amanda: There wasn't much not to love . . .
Kate: This book has no one star ratings.
Kaitlin: I'm kind of cheating...
Kristin: Once the book showed up in my mailbox, I closed the bedroom door and isolated myself . . .
This week's song:
What? What?
Next week:
What's in your DUFF kit? (see here for more explanation!)

yay - I love this topic - off to check out the YA'ers picks. here's mine (I picked two...)
ReplyDeletehttp://inkcrush.blogspot.com/2010/09/rtw-best-book-of-month.html
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE talking about books! My fave book this month actually wasn't YA. It was THE PASSAGE by Justin Cronin. I posted my July/August reading list on my blog http://karlanellenbach-lastword.blogspot.com/ These last two months have been ruled by a certain writer who claims the initials SC ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this topic, but it's threatening the integrity of my bookshelves. TOO MANY BOOKS TO READ.

I like this topic because it sort of forces me to read more than one book a month. And it gives me TONS of new books I need to check out.

I absolutely LOVE this topic. And I think I match with a certain highway-er.
ReplyDeleteHere's my pick:

p.s. even you writing "real or not real" in this post destroyed me, michelle.

ReplyDeleteHere's mine. Predictable :) http://kara-mustafa.blogspot.com/2010/09/rtw-favorite-book-of-august.html
ReplyDeleteI can't post about it because it's a guest post for banned books week over at a review blog...
ReplyDeletebut...
Catcher in the Rye.
Yes, I am decades late.
This isn't helping me eliminate the to be read pile, but it's making sure that I do read.

And I finally got an actual word with WV: mutes.
It was so hard to choose this month!
ReplyDeletehttp://vicariousreader.blogspot.com/2010/09/rtw-favorite-book-in-august.html
I CAN'T PICK JUST ONE! http://wordlarceny.blogspot.com/2010/09/rtw-favorite-book-of-month.html But I posted anyway? :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I road tripped with you girls. Mine is here.
ReplyDeleteOut of a pitiful list of read books in August, I present my post.
ReplyDeletehttp://writer-renegade.blogspot.com/2010/09/august-book.html
My top pick this month (by a LOT) was "The Sky is Everywhere" -- http://kirstenjoyrice.blogspot.com/2010/09/rtw-augusts-best-book.html
ReplyDeleteYou all MUST read this book!
Mine! http://chartheshark.blogspot.com/2010/09/rtw-favourite-book-toughest-question-in.html
ReplyDeleteIncluded is "The Complete Handbook of Novel Writing" lol.
So hard to choose just one,

Man, oh man. One of the books I'm talking about is one I picked up after last month's RTW roundup. Big thanks to the peeps who brought THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE into my life!
ReplyDeleteI featured three books. Couldn't help it!

Easy for me since I've had so little time to read lately. Gail Carriger's "Changeless." Just love that series.

Everyone is on it today! There are some cool books chosen too- here are mine and Pam's fave books.

Adding to the praise for MOCKINGJAY:

Here's mine! ^_^ I did two books. :P
ReplyDeletehttp://chaosoflcd14.wordpress.com/2010/09/01/best-books-of-august/
i feel very predictable... my choice was mockingjay :)
ReplyDeletehttp://holes-in-my-brain.blogspot.com/2010/09/road-trip-wednesday.html
What fun! I'm torn between reading everyone's posts, and putting my hands over my eyes and chanting, "I can't see you!" (the visual equivalent of hands over the ears and chanting "I can't hear you, la la la") I'm on a no-fiction diet while I'm plotting my new book.
ReplyDeleteSo if I don't get to yours today, know that I will someday slink back to your post and take notes. Here's mine:

Great topic! I love getting new book recommendations! I read quite a few books in August, so it was hard to narrow my choice down...

What an awesome topic for RTW! Here's my (*cough* craptastic *cough*) selection for August:
ReplyDeletehttp://caitlindarrell.blogspot.com/2010/09/rtw-best-book-of-month.html
I couldn't decide this month, so I cheated and picked two...
ReplyDeletehttp://writerschasm.blogspot.com/2010/09/rtw-augusts-best-books.html
The Emmys meet RTW on my blog.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read everyone's responses! :)
Annette Blair's BEDEVILED ANGEL. Check it: http://celisedowns.com/blog/2010/09/01/road-trip-wednesday-43-book-of-the-month/
ReplyDeleteIf I hadn't read like 8 books last month, it might be easy. (It's September here.)
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's a tie.
MOCKINGJAY and PARANORMALCY (Kiersten White)
You know, the bad thing about this topic is that it somehow always manages to add to my TBR list. :D Wait, did I say bad? I meant good.
